Photographing Legends: A Night with Styx

Last night, I had the incredible opportunity to photograph one of the most iconic rock bands in music history—Styx. After 52 years of creating legendary hits and captivating audiences worldwide, they continue to prove why they are a powerhouse in the industry. Standing in front of the stage with my camera in hand, capturing their energy and magic, was nothing short of a privilege. From their lighting setups to the emotion in every note, it was an experience I'll never forget.

Adding to the excitement was the opening band, Jet Black Roses. It was my first time hearing their music, and to say I was blown away would be an understatement. Their sound was fresh yet timeless, and it instantly resonated with me. This band brought the perfect mix of rock, harmony, and raw energy—definitely my style of music! I wouldn’t be surprised if they soon join the ranks of rock legends themselves.

After almost 20 years as a professional photographer, capturing moments like these still feels as exhilarating as ever. No matter how many events I’ve shot or how many incredible bands I’ve had the pleasure to photograph, there’s something magical about being behind the lens at a live concert. It never gets old, and it’s experiences like this that remind me why I fell in love with photography in the first place. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the evening. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did capturing them.
